ArchSite

The South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology (SCIAA) and the South Carolina Department of Archives and History (SCDAH) are pleased to offer ArchSite, the first online cultural resource information system in the state. ArchSite combines data from the state’s archaeological and built heritage to provide researchers with a online source for cultural resource information.

ArchSite includes two applications that have been designed for specific users: Public View and Subscription View.

Consulting ArchSite does not satisfy the obligation of federal and/or State agencies to consult with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) of the South Carolina Department of Archives and History (SCDAH) pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (as amended), and state laws including the Mining Act, the Coastal Zone Management Act, and the Protection of State-Owned or Leased Historic Properties law.

Funding for the development of ArchSite was provided by
the South Carolina Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

    4/29/2015

ATTENTION!

ArchSite will be down for maintenance on Friday, May 1st, from 12:30 to 2:00pm. Thank you for your patience.

The ArchSite computer station, in the South Carolina Department of Archives and History's reference room, will no longer be able to print. Users can save their maps and search results to their USB flash drive or send results through email. Instructions will be available at the reference desk.

The "Email Image of Map" option is currently not working in ArchSite. For a temporary work around, use the "Display Printable Map" option, "Submit Request", then, when the new window opens up to show your map, save the map to the desktop. You can then email the map to yourself as an attachment. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

REMINDER

ArchSite subscriptions end on June 30, 2015. The new subscription year begins on July 1, 2015. If you are interested in subscription level access, please follow the "License Agreement" link to the left.

RESULTS

In May 2012, the ArchSite Steering Committee conducted an online needs assessment to determine who is using ArchSite, how it is being used, the features users consider most useful, and potential improvements users would like to see. The response to the survey was strong with 157 people completing the survey. Thank you to everyone who participated. The results can be viewed at the following link: Survey Results
